Pastries of Denmark is a small cafe and confection shop in Creve Coeur.     They have tons of tiny morsels, and each looked prettier than the last.  I didn't try one, but I hear they get many requests for their double dipped chocolate strawberries..

Chocolate Raspberry Cake

Price: $3.95

Size: A generous portion, bigger than your average slice of cake at a wedding.

Frosting: Heavier chocolate frosting, smooth and sweet.

Cake: Moist, and light, but still had some substance

Filling: Light chocolate mousse and a raspberry jam

Notes: The textures were fairly light, so they balanced well. Hubby liked the heavier top frosting as an accent.

Overall: I liked it and would eat it again (I would try some of their other selections 1st, but I would eventually buy this again).  The Counte really liked it and would buy it again.

French Vanilla and Strawberry Cupcake

French Vanilla & Strawberry

Price: $3.95

Size: Larger than homemade, good ratio of cake to frosting.

Frosting: Sweet butter cream, some granulation.  It was pink and had strawberry bits, but I could taste no other flavor than vanilla.

Cake: Moderate in density and moistness.

Filling: Strawberry jam and a vanilla cream, fair amount.

Notes: The filling and frosting together slightly outweighed the cake (in taste and amount).  There was a slight after taste that made me want a drink of milk.

Overall: Hubby and I ate it, but I don't think I'd get this flavor again.
