| Pop Tart
Price: $8
Size: Bigger than a normal pop tart.
Description: Classic Pate Brisee with a S'mores filling and a scoop of Ann Marie's Chocolate Marshmallow Swirl ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream. Served hot so if you don't scarf it you'll end up with chocolate marshmallow sauce instead of ice cream. Not that this is a bad thing.
Notes: A thick flakey crust filled with dark chocolate and a marshmallow fluff accent. The sea salt and dark chocolate temper the "sugary sweet" that you're thinking it will be.
Overall: Who knew you can take concepts as child-like as "pop tarts" and "S'mores" and make them all grown up. Apple Pie
Price: $6
Size: About a 3" serving
Description: Classic apple pie served with cinnamon ice cream and a Maker's Mark caramel drizzle.
Notes: Tart apples, cooked thoroughly but not to mush, definitely make the star of the show, but the crispy crust and the strong bourbon flavored sauce are "back up singers" out to make a name for themselves.
Overall: A classic and simple apple pie, catering more to the "apple" lover than the "crust" aficionado. Price: $6 Size: Two 1" thick slices of bread
Description: Moist yet firm slices of bread (rather than crumbs) are accented with golden raisins and arrive in a shallow bath of Maker's Mark banana caramel sauce (same as the apple pie, but thinner).
Notes: Dense, moist, and sweet, this classic is flavored with cinnamon, caramel and booze. The raisins are present but don't really impact the overall taste. The bananas are soft, not mush, and absorb the flavor of the sauce.
Overall: A great balance of "bread" and "pudding" in this "bread pudding" and one of the more "traditional" versions around town.... and while we strive to be as neutral as possible in our descriptions, this one is hard not to gush over. |
