| Chocolate Truffle Cake
Size: About 1"x 2"
Description: A moist, light textured flour-less chocolate cake that features bittersweet chocolate rather than milk chocolate. Served with vanilla ice cream and chocolate drizzle.
Notes: This was surprisingly light for a chocolate cake and had a clean finish as well. On the less sweet side, so the ice cream added most of the sugar flavor. Overall: Throw away your assumption that all chocolate desserts are heavy rich and dense. Price: $6
Size: 1 apple sliced
Description: a sliced granny smith apple tossed in pomegranate vodka and served with a thin caramel dipping sauce.
Notes: The apple was perfectly tart to contrast the sweet dip, none of us could taste the vodka though. Overall: Simple, light and fairly low-cal. Price: $7
Size: About 1"x 2"
Description: A dense, moist and "not too sweet" pudding sports a very mild coffee hint. Served slightly warm and topped with crispy-on-the-outside caramelized bananas. It also had caramel sauce that was thin and fairly sweet.
Notes: Some said this tasted like a very moist and mild banana bread. Overall: Great for those who like banana and are not wanting too much sugar after a meal. Price: $7
Size: About 1"x 5", plenty for 2
Description: This crunchy and rather sweet "tart" was served with ice cream and a sweet sauce.
Notes: Reminiscent of a pecan pie, but with less filling and a thinner crust. The macadamia flavor was very mild.
Overall: Humbly, it makes no claim of satisfying your hankering for pecan pie, but fans of pecans/pecan pie will find this a rare treat worth taking advantage of. Price: $7
Size: About 1"x 3" x 2"
Description: A dense, heavy classic brownie with no nuts or other add ins. Crispy outside, soft and moist inside. Served with cinnamon ice cream.
Notes: This heavier brownie was served slightly warmed and it was complete on its own. But the lighter "more ice than cream" ice cream had just enough presence to add another dimension to this solid staple. Overall: Simple, homey, and chocolatey... It pays not to mess with the classics. That is, of course, if you like the classics. |
