Veritas-Gateway to Food and Wine, is a cute little restaurant tucked neatly in the Dierberg's Market Place on Clarkson.  "Veritas", the latin word for "truth" tries to keep things as simple, local and "true" as they can.  They have a weekly changing menu that features as many local ingredients as possible.

Local Berries and Sweet Cream

Description: Various, local, in-season berries, such as strawberries, blueberries, cherries, grapes, and gooseberries, served with a side car of mild sweet cream.
 
Notes: Berries were on the tart side and the cream is light and mild.

Overall
: A light summer treat for those who like dessert more on the tart side.


Chocolate Peanut Butter Bread Pudding

Size: Individual ramekin sized.
 
Description: A firmer textured, but moist bread pudding featuring chocolate and peanut butter. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
 
Notes: This bread pudding isn't as sweet as some others, and the chocolate and peanut butter are very subtle.

Overall
: If you think of bread pudding as too strong, too sweet, or too soggy this may change your mind.


Cookie Pan featuring Susanna's Cookies





Price: $7
 
Size: a 6" round pan
 
Description: There are 4 flavors to choose from: Chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, macadamia nut, and double chocolate.  You can get one or mix two.  We opted for the macadamia and chocolate chip.   

Notes: Served in a hot skillet, so it's hot and melty inside while crispy on the outside.  Think "half-baked".  It's on the sweeter side too.

Overall
: Sugar lovers will not feel left out at Veritas.  And the quality doesn't suffer here either, you can tell they are fresh and homemade (by Susanna's Cookies)
