| I tried a vanilla and a chocolate cupcake from Dierbergs on a recommendation from Sugar Gang Members "Chewybacca-nista" and "Wendilicious". 6 packs of cupcakes pre-decorated with various themes for under $5. You can't beat the price. Vanilla Price: $4.59 for 6 Size: About homemade. Presentation: Very bright and decorative, most have some plastic decoration/toy, like a ring. Frosting: Sugary sweet, shortening based, left a thick coating in my mouth. Cake: Medium density, semi-moist, lightly sweet, left a light after taste. Notes: I would guess that Dierbergs is targeting kids with their cupcakes, from the bright decorations and the very sugary taste, and I think they would love them…”Wendilicious” loves them and she is not a kid. Overall: To me this cupcake tasted like it was full of preservatives, not my thing. Like I said, “Wendilicious”and "Chewy", loved them.
Chocolate Price: 6 for $4.59 Size: Homemade Frosting: Lighter, almost whipped, light chocolate flavor, no real after taste or coating Cake: Very moist, mid dense, light after taste. Notes: It tasted like it was made with chocolate flavors, rather than real chocolate. But if you don't mind artificial flavors, it was a pretty good cupcake, especially for the price. Overall: I go for quality. So I would not buy this again, but I might not be opposed to eating it again.
Tippin's Peach Pie Price: $7.00 Size: Standard pie, Crust:Flaky, on the heavier side Filling: The peach filling is on the tangier side of sweet. Notes: I like that the list of ingredients is short, and most are not that bad. I think I'd want it warm and with ice cream next time. Gang Notes: Wendilicious feels that if you need another dessert (i.e. ice cream) to make your dessert taste good, then is it really that good? Overall: Wendilicious would pass on this one. Though if it were warm and had ice cream it would be better. Stay sweet, La Confectionista |
